Hope arrives in an unexpected form when she joins The Civilian Forces, a government initiative that provides food, protection, safe shelter, and a chance to forge a new future. Within this program, she is mentored by Special Ops soldiers Lieutenant Quinn and Sergeant Marcus, both seasoned Marines tasked with training a fragmented group of young men and women from the Pacific Northwest on how to survive in this new dystopian fiction landscape.
What begins as a simple mentorship evolves into something much deeper for Kat and her commanding officers. Novel: ONLY: You found a way to save me
When I started writing this book, I wasn't trying to express the grief I had been experiencing for two years after my husband's death. I never thought I would craft a love story, especially one that would find its place among the dystopian fiction genre. But three-quarters into creating this narrative, I realized each character held parts of me, and Lieutenant Quinn's love for his recruit, Katherine 'Kat' Lee, mirrored the emotion, energy, and unconditional love that my husband had for me.
During Quinn and Kat's perilous missions to survive against militia, arms dealers, cannibals, and killers, they grapple with the mental demons, doubts, fears, guilt, and regret that we all face. Sometimes, it’s challenging to forgive oneself for past actions. Yet, when that 'one' person comes along—someone who truly understands, allows you to be yourself, and provides a safe space—healing can genuinely occur.
This is the journey of both Quinn and Kat. He is a hardened soldier, while she is a rebellious yet strong-willed young woman. Together, they connect and fight for survival in a new dystopian world—a world where love triumphs over evil. In each other, they find peace, unity, and self-worth. They discover their ONLY, that singular soul who is an exclusive necessary truth.
