A fictional story about forgiveness, redemption, and love.
In a world without electricity, society has been reduced to chaotic and brutal bands of scavengers, hunters, and killers. Thrust into this savage new world as a young woman, Kat relies on the Native American teachings of her grandfather for her own survival. But she also carries guilt from the loss of her entire family and home, as well as the actions she's taken to stay alive — things Kat believes can never be forgiven.
Yet hope comes into her life from an unexpected source when she joins The Civilian Forces, a government program offering food, protection, safe shelter, and a chance to build a new future. It's while in the forces that she is mentored by Special Ops soldiers Lieutenant Quinn and Sergeant Marcus. Both are hardened, dedicated Marines tasked with training an inexperienced and fragmented group of Pacific Northwest young men and women how to survive in this new dystopian world.
What starts as a mentorship becomes something more — for Kat as well as her commanding officers — as military tactics and survivor skills lead them to understand that even in this hellish place love and forgiveness are the true keys to surviving the demons they each carry beyond the call of duty.

Novel: ONLY: You found a way to save me
When I started writing this book, I wasn't trying to express the grief I had been experiencing for two years after my husbands death. And I never thought I would write a love story. But 3/4 in to creating this story, I realized each character had parts of me, and Lieutenant Quinn's love for his recruit Katherine 'Kat' Lee was the emotion, energy, and unconditional love that my husband had for me.
During Quinn and Kat's missions to survive militia, arms dealers, cannibals , and killers, they struggle like we all do with some level of mental demons, doubts, fears, guilt and regret. And sometimes it's hard to forgive one's self for past actions. But when that 'one' person comes along and understands, letting you be you, and gives you a safe space, healing can happen.
And so it is with both Quinn and Kat. One a hardened soldier and one a rebellious but strong willed young woman, together they connect and survive against the odds of a new dystopian world. A world where love is stronger than evil. And together two lost souls can find peace, unity, and self worth. In each other they have found their ONLY, that singular soul who is an exclusive necessary truth.
